Preview // Carolyn's Film Portraits

A few portraits of Carolyn on film.  I'll have a full post this week.  Still anxiously waiting for my other rolls of film to be developed at a local photo lab!  It's official: I love film.

Fall weather + Aspen the puppy

I'll have a travel post up tomorrow but I couldn't resist a few throwback Aspen puppy pictures in fall weather.

A few travel deals I spotted on my search today:

BWI - PHX (Phoenix) - $235 a/i, Nov 2 - 4/6/7
BWI - PVG (Shanghai) - $776, dates in Jan and Feb.  This is right during the Chinese New Year festivities, which would be an awesome site to see.  Don't forget the visa costs will add on another ~$150 but this is still a CHEAP deal and you get ~15,000 miles (close to the lowest elite status on most airlines).  They had the same fare leaving CHO but it dried up.

Scenes from UVA Football

Scenes from the last home football game against Oregon.  Although we won't have as nice weather this weekend, I think we'll at least win!  Wahoowa!

Local feature // Blue Mountain Brewery

Blue Mountain Brewery (BMB) is one of my favorite local visits.  From the variety of cold, frosty beers to the hand crafted, organic pizzas, you'll almost forget the surrounding beauty.  But, that's impossible. Nestled against the Blue Ridge Mountains, BMB offers stunning views to be paired with a game of corn hole.  If relaxing on their outside patio doesn't entice you to make a trip here, then you can also enjoy a brewery tour (on Saturdays) or trivia (on Tuesdays), and more.  I'm not even a "beer person" and I enjoy visiting BMB.

Favorites on the menu // BMB Nachos, Pretzel, Margherita Pizza, Rockfish Wheat Beer (per Michael).
Best paired with // hiking Crab Tree Falls or Humpback Rock, doing a brewery/cidery tour (Devils Backbone Brewing Company, Bold Rock Cider, Wild Wolf Brewing Company), visiting Chiles Peach Orchard, visiting nearby vineyards (King Family Vineyards, Veritas Vineyards, Pollak Vineyards, Cardinal Point Vineyards, Afton Mountain Vineyards, Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery, etc.)

Upcoming event // BMB is having their first annual Oktoberfest Bus Tour for $69, making this a steal.  Ticket purchase includes transportation, lunch and sampler at BMB, tour of BMB's Barrel House and a $5 gift card, and a $20 gift card to Sedona Taphouse just in time for dinner where the bus will drop you off at 5 PM.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://bmbtour.eventbrite.com

First roll of film

The good, the bad, and the ugly.  All unedited and with answers to digital/film comparison post below.

This is Kodak 400 ultramax (the only film available at my local CVS) and I developed it at Walgreens (since I'm learning for now!).  Sadly, because I messed up unloading the film, all of my Carter Mountain Orchard pictures were ruined.
